Applications deadline: 28/10/2024 – 11/11/2024
The Chemical and Environmental Engineering Group (GIQA) of the Rey Juan Carlos University offers two predoctoral contracts associated with the projects "CATALYTIC HYDROPYROLYSIS OF LIGNIN AND LIGNOCELLULOSE RESIDUES" (PID2023-147355OB-C22) and "PRODUCTION OF PURE HYDROGEN FROM GREEN CARRIERS IN MEMBRANE CATALYTIC REACTORS" (PID2023-146597OB-I00).
These contracts are framed in the Call for Recruitment for the Training of Research Staff associated with the Grants granted in the Call for "Knowledge Generation Projects" of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities to the Rey Juan Carlos University.
(1) Predoctoral contract associated with the project "CATALYTIC HYDROPYROLYSIS OF LIGNIN AND LIGNOCELLULOSE RESIDUES" (C1FPI2024-06)
The selected person will develop his/her Doctoral Thesis in a multidisciplinary environment that includes the characterization and conditioning of raw materials (lignin and lignocellulosic biomass residues), the synthesis and characterization of novel multifunctional heterogeneous catalysts and their application in the catalytic hydropyrolysis of waste materials indicated towards high value-added chemical products or refinery raw materials.
The proposed activities will have a significant impact as they will create a new way to obtain valuable chemicals or refinery feedstocks from lignin waste and lignocellulosic biomass, allowing fossil fuels to be replaced and greenhouse gas emissions to be reduced.
(2) Predoctoral contract associated with the project "PRODUCTION OF PURE HYDROGEN FROM GREEN CARRIERS IN MEMBRANE CATALYTIC REACTORS" (C1FPI2024-09).
The selected person will develop his/her Doctoral Thesis within the framework of the aforementioned project. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment that includes the synthesis and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts that will be used in conversion reactions of hydrogen carriers such as dimethyl ether (DME) and green ammonia, to obtain renewable hydrogen.
The proposed activities will have a great impact both in the scientific-technological and social fields, since the development of hydrogen-based energy systems will contribute to the decarbonization of the energy sector by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing global warming caused by the use of fossil fuels that can be replaced by hydrogen.
