PhD Student Position at Leibniz Institute for Catalysis at the University of Rostock, Germany on: “Development of catalytically efficient pathways for methane valorization“
The following reactions will be explored:
a) Partial Oxidation of Methane to Methanol and Formaldehyde
b) Oxidative Coupling of Methane with Toluene to Styrene
c) C-H-Functionalization of Methane to Methylborates and -silanes
The main topic of the PhD work would be investigation of structure-reactivity relationships by operando spectroscopy. The student will mainly use our operando-spectroscopic simultaneous coupling techniques DRIFTS/UV-vis/MS and EPR/UV-vis/Raman/GC to study partial oxidation of methane to methanol and formaldehyde using mixed oxides and zeolites containing Cu, V, Co, Fe and/or Mo.
